My woodturning classes are based in Newcastle upon Tyne, with the advantage of some beautiful countryside and history in the surrounding area, the Roman Wall and forts being just one!
I offer one and two-day classes, which can be tailored to your individual needs, whether you are a beginner, novice or experienced woodturner wanting to explore other avenues of woodturning.
The class fee includes all tools, materials, personal safety equipment, refreshments, and a tasty light lunch (we can discuss dietary requirements when booking).

One day beginner class £160
The beginner class will start with an introduction to the lathe and an exercise on basic tool control and cuts. We then will aim to complete a simple bowl and a spindle project.
Two-day beginner class £300
On the second day of a beginner’s class, students will aim to complete two projects, one being a lidded box with a contrasting insert in the lid, and another to be determined.
Two-day Signature Classes 1 £300 Thin wall turning and piercing.
Day one: Thin wall turning
We will consider and exercise different techniques in order to create a turned piece with a consistent wall thickness of 2mm including, timber choice, mounting options, measuring wall thickness and finishing.
Day two: Piercing
We will cover piercing techniques including planning out a design, marking out, piercing using both a micro motor and a NSK Presto, as well as further embellishing and finishing.
Two-day Signature Class 2 £300 Box turning with silver inlay.
Learn tips and tool techniques for turning and fitting box lids and the technique for adding the silver. The design can be as simple or as intricate as you wish. The end result will be stunning.
Other suggested class projects are Bowls, platters, boxes, goblets, pendants, fruit, candle sticks, table lamps, pens etc. Please contact me to discuss your requirements in class. All classes start at 8 am and finish at 3 45pm for a class clean up.
